Château de Rosa Bonheur
原文写道:“The building was purchased in 1859 by the French animal painter Rosa Bonheur, who moved her studio there.”
正如原文所说:“the building has remained unchanged since her death in 1899”
At the edge of the Fontainebleau Forest, the Château de By became both Rosa Bonheur’s home and her studio. The French animal painter purchased the building in 1859, when she was thirty-seven and at the height of her popularity, and lived and worked there for forty years. She rebuilt the château for greater comfort and added a vast neo-Gothic studio, creating the space and light she needed. Its park also contained pens for her animals. The source records: “The building was purchased in 1859 by the French animal painter Rosa Bonheur, who moved her studio there.”
The château also witnessed a notable moment in Bonheur’s career: in 1865, Empress Eugenie presented her with the Légion d’Honneur there. After Bonheur’s death in 1899, the building remained unchanged, apart from the sale of all the paintings it had once contained. The museum chiefly preserves objects connected with her everyday life. It closed for refurbishment in 2016 and reopened in 2018 under the Brault family. Katherine Brault purchased the property from the descendants of Anna Klumpke in September 2017. The château was placed on the “Maisons des Illustres” list in 2011 and was among the 2019 heritage lottery beneficiaries. As the source says, “the building has remained unchanged since her death in 1899”
